[Background and Purpose]Nurses are an indispensable strength in the medical reform and development. Clinical medicine are closely related with the professional skills and theoretical academic level of nurses, however, both of which are out of keeping with the rapid development of clinical medicine now. Domestic researchers have proposed that the development of nursing science need to attach importance to the cultivation of individual innovative consciousness and innovation spirit of nursing staff. Nowadays, most studies about innovation behavior exist in the enterprise employees while that among nurses have been sparsely documented. The questions that how to improve the nurses’ job satisfaction and enthusiasm, innovate the nursing work mode, develop high quality nursing service and maximize creativity to provide high quality nursing service for patients have became urgent issues.Nurses’innovation behavior is defined as a behavioral process that nurses find and develop new methods, techniques and ways of working to promote health and prevent disease, and then introduce and apply them to the work after obtaining the support of others. The current study investigated the nurses’ innovation behavior in a grade A tertiary hospital, through which to understand the status of nurses’ innovation behavior and find its influencing factors. The study aimed to provide scientific basis for improving the nurse’s ability to innovate, lifting the nurse’s own value, promoting the development of the discipline, enhancing the competitiveness of the hospital. [Subjects and Methods]750nurses who have qualified nurse practitioners qualification coming from the grade A tertiary hospital were investigated by the five self-designed questionnaires including Innovative Behavior Scale, Organizational Innovation Atmosphere Scale, Nurse Job Satisfaction Scale, Goal Orientation Scale and Chinese Nurse Job Stressors Scale. Statistical description, t-test, one-way ANOVA and logistic regression analysis were made using the SPSS17.0statistical software and adopting a significance level of0.05. Quality control measures run through the whole process of the present study.[Results]1. The number of final effective questionnaire was703, and effective recovery rate was93.7%. The percentage of women was96.3%. The age ranged from20to59years old, the average age was30.32±7.60and the percentage of subject between20and30was61.59%. The married nurses accounted for54.8%, the nurses having one or more children53.6%, the nurse title53.62%, Senior nurses and charge nurse22.61%and22.04%,respectively.65.1%subjects worked in a fixed department after graduation. The head nurses accounted for10.82%, the clinical teachers13.51%.The educational level was given priority to undergraduate, accounting for64.58%. The percentage of nurses in medical department, surgical department, gynecology department, pediatrics department, outpatient Clinic, emergency and ICU (intensive care unit) were25.04%、22.82%、18.81%、7.51%、7.10%,12.82%and6.00%, respectively.75%was not cause nurse,47.50%had1000-3000yuan monthly income, only4.3%had funds and26.2%had articles.2. The individual innovation behavior scale and organizational innovation atmosphere scale uses six levels of evaluation method, the nurses’average score was3.83±0.88and4.15±0.74, respectively. The nurses job satisfaction scale, goal orientation scale and the nurse job stressors scale use five levels of evaluation method, the average scored was4.15±0.74,3.30±0.63,3.35±0.55,3.34±0.59, respectively. 3. The population distribution characteristics of nurses’ innovation behavior were as follows. Male nurses’ innovation behavior was better than that of female nurses, older than35nurses’ innovation behavior was better than that of fewer than35, married nurses’ innovation behavior was better than the unmarried. Nurses with children is better than the childless, children’s age>6nurses was better than that of children’s age6years old or less. The outpatient clinic nurse was better than that of medical department. The nurses in surgical department, gynecology department and emergency department was better than that of the medical department, nurses of years of being a nurse>15years was superior to years being a nurse <15years. Nurse-in-charge and higher level titles was better than that of nurses and senior nurses. The head nurse was superior to the teaching nurses and nurses of no administrative posts. The more the rotary departments and the higher educational level, the better the innovation behavior. The higher educational level research innovation behavior gradually enhanced. The nurse with establishment was better than nurse without establishment. Nurses with5000yuan or more month income was better than nurses with less5000yuan. Nurse having published articles and funds was better than nurse having not.4. The results of univariate analysis on the influencing factors of Nurses’innovative behavior were as follows. The goal orientation and funds were strongly correlated with the nurses’ innovative behavior with odds ratio3.058and3.058, respectively. The following variables were moderately correlated with nurses’innovative behavior: sex(OR=2.821), age(OR=2.732), educational level(OR=1.816), marriage status(OR=1.763), having child or not(OR=2.088),children’ age(OR=2.095), spouse educational level(OR=1.610), years of being a nurse(OR=2.400), technical titles(OR=2.029), administrative post (OR=2.205), rotary department(OR=1.890) employment way(OR=2.248), income(OR=2.306), nurse job satisfaction(OR=1.417) articles(OR=2.647) and patents(OR=2.334).The association between the variables that having only one child or not, department, work pressure source, organizational innovation climate and nurses’ innovative behavior were insignificant.5. The results of the multiple linear stepwise regression analysis method showed that there was a relationship between nurses’ innovation behavior and sex, organizational innovation climate, titles for technical personnel, years of being a nurse and rotary department. The ORs were4.476,2.347,2.434,1.822and2.918, respectively.[Conclusion]1. The nurse innovation behavior level, on the whole, was satisfactory. The average score was3.86±0.89.The nurses innovation behavior was affected by sex, age, marriage status, having child or not, children’s age, official academic credentials, department, years of being a nurse, titles for technical personnel, administrative post, rotary department, employment way, income and scientific research ability.2. The innovation behavior of male nurses, high goal orientation,10or more years of being a nurse and4or more rotary departments is relatively better than the reference group.
