Abstract/Summary:
Objective To improve nurses’compliance of reporting adverse events withreporting intention survey and its related factors intervention in tertiary hospitalin Liuzhou.To strengthen the intention of nursing adverse event reports,reducethe nursing incidence of adverse events in hospital.This paper discussed efficientstrategy for prevention and control of nursing adverse events.Methods By a convenience sampling,322clinical nurses from6tertiaryhospitals in Liuzhou were recruited.The basic survey questionnaire wasadministered to investigate sociology population data of nurses.The intent toreport nursing adverse events questionnaire was administered to assessnurses’intent to report nursing adverse events.The patient safety culturequestionnaire was administered to assess nurses’ attitude towards patient safetyculture and institution-related patient safety culture.The report cognitive andbarriers questionnaire was used to assess status of nurses.96nurses fromemergency department of Liuzhou People’s Hospital were selected as an intervention study.The Changes of nurses’ report cognitive and intention wasobserved after a six-month Educational intervention by the way of CBScombined with PBL based on the status of adverse event reporting intentionsand its influencing factors.Results (1)The median of322surveyed nurses’ intent to report nursingadverse events is14(0~15).Reported intention of potential vulnerability andno damage adverse events in nursing was low,respectively,61.2%,62.7%;Reported intention of severe injury or death adverse events were higher(98.8%);(2) Reported intention improved with age,nursing age,education and job titleincreasing.Matron,operating room nurse and ICU nurse were more likely toreport adverse events than general nurses,intentions nurses and emergencynurses.(3)Hospital reporting institution and are system have a higherawareness,its recognition rate were93.4%and92.9%,respectively;Majormedical negligence behavioral and medical malpractice reporting requirementshave a lower awareness,its cognitive rates were71.7%and36.0%;Lack oftimely feedback,analysis and dissemination of results after reporting,and reportformat complicated were considered the most important of the three nursingadverse events reported obstacles, its recognition rates were72.4%,72.0%and69.6%;The five dimensions of the attitude about patients’ safety were ranked asfollows according to the descending order of the score:the unit safe atmosphere,job satisfaction,team work climate, perception of management and stressrecognition.(4)Univariate analysis showed that reporting cognitive and disordershave a correlation with intention of nursing adverse event reports.P<0.05,statistically significant differences.Multiple linear regression analysisshowed that nurses’ working life,educational background,safety cultural attitudes,report cognition and report disorders have a correlation with intention of nursing adverse event reports.P<0.05,statistically significant differences.(5)The reportintention for potential vulnerability and no damage adverse events were64.6%and69.2%,and that increased to81.70%and83.20%.Conclusion The report intention for potential vulnerability and no damageadverse events was low,and the report intention rised With the severity ofadverse events increased.Age, work experience,educational background,titles,departments and medical institution type effected nurses’ report intention.Nurses’ work experience,educational background,safety cultural attitudes,reportcognition and disorders have a correlation with intention of nursing adverseevent reports.Educational intervention by the way of PBL combined with CBScan improve reported cognitive and reportd intentions in emergency department.
