Objective:To observe the treatment using combines needling of the contralateral(needling) and ipsilateral (non-needling) acupoints on encephalopathy with limbdysfunction.Methods:60cases of encephalopathy with limb dysfunction were randomly dividedinto2groups. Group A: using the ipsilateral acupuncture acupoints, Group B:using the contralateral+ipsilateral acupoints, and do the acupuncture treatmentonce-daily.21days of treatment, and using the clinical neurological scoringscale and modified Barthel ADL index (MBI) score of everyday life, and for21days before receiving treatment and after receiving treatment patients wereevaluated for efficacy.Results:1. The Group A total effective rate is90.00%, and the Group B total effectiverate is96.13%. Both treatment methods can improve the neurological deficitssymptoms. The results of the difference effective rate of both groups were statistically significant (P<0.05), the Group A treatment has more significanteffect than the B Group treatment to reduce the neurological deficit symptoms.2. Modified Barthel index score, A and B both groups before and aftertreatments are statistically significant (P<0.05), that means the two differentmethods of treatment can improve the encephalopathy with limb dysfunctionpatients. The difference comparison between Group A and Group B before andafter treatment, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), the GroupAtreatment is significantly more improve the efficacy of daily living than GroupB.3.65cases in total of encephalopathy with limb dysfunction treatmentresearch.60cases of the efficacy included cases and5falls off cases (3caseswere discharged from the hospital due to financial difficulties and2casesreceived a medical discharge). During the electro acupuncture treatment, therewas no needling fainting, or any other adverse reaction. Conclusion:Common acupuncture punctures the contralateral+ipsilateral acupoints canimprove the encephalopathy patient’s physical function and activities of dailyliving. But combining the acupuncture points both in contralateral and ipsilateral, the effects will be more significant and beneficial for the rehabilitation of limbdysfunction patients with encephalopathy.
