Objective:To investigate the efficacy of moxibustion on Zhiyin(GB-1) combined with crossing selection of acupoints method for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy. By assessing the clinical value of this method, we can dig more information about the classical needling methods and bring new ideas for clinical practise. Methods:This was a single-blind, randomized controlled trial.60sufferers of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were randomly and evenly divided into the treatment group or the control group. The Treatment group was treated with moxibustion on Zhiyin(GB-1) combined with crossing selection of acupoints method, while the control group acupuncture only. The treatment was totally10times for each course.Once every day from Monday to Friday, then two days off on Saterday and Sunday, the same pattern would be repeat in the subsequent week. Clinical symptomatic scores, VAS scores improvement and effective rate in different time points before and after the treatment.Results:(1) There were no dorp-out or adverse reaction in any of60participants.(2)The baseline characteristics(gender, age, course of suffer, symptomatic scores) were comparable between groups (P>0.05).(3)The symptoms of Tanaka Yasuku cervical spondylopathy of nerve root type scale scores between the two groups showed no significant difference (P>0.05) after the treatment. The VAS scores, however, were all reduced, and there was significant difference compared with that before the treatment (P<0.05).(4)The effective rate in treatment and control group were96.67%and80.00%respectively, while the cure rate were6.67%and0%.Conclusion:According to the comparation, both groups showed positive outcomes of the cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, but participants frome moxibustion on Zhiyin(GB-1) combined with crossing selection of acupoints method group revealed better effective rate and cure rate. Preliminary conclusion from this research indicated that moxibustion on Zhiyin(GB-1) combined with crossing selection of acupoints method improved clinical efficacy against acupuncture therapy only for the cervical spondylotic radiculopathy. |
