[Objective]To investigate the prevalence, epidemiological feature and influential factors of metabolic syndrome among policeman in Tianjin, our reseach aims to provide the scientific study for making preventive and control measures of metabolic syndrome among policeman in Tianjin.[Methods] Adopting cross-section survey, we investigated4412policeman in Tianjin who took health examination in Gong An hospital from April to June in2007.All objects were carried out investigation by questionnaire which were designed by professional staffs, including general state of health, income, degree of education, life style, physical execise, past history and family history and so on.All objects were collected venous blood to assay fasting plasma glucose, fasting triglyeride, fasting total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholestrol, low density lipoproten-cholestrol.All objects were examined body high, weight, waist circulation, buttock circulation, caculating body mass index and waist-to-hip ratio, except cancer, chronic heptitis, chronic renal insufficiency, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.[Results]1.The prevalence of metabolic syndrome among policemen in Tianjin is16.52%and standardization prevalence is19.98%.2.The feature of age and sexuality of metabolic syndrome among policeman in Tianjin:The prevalence of male and female is respectively17.17%and24.74%. The prevalence of female is higher than male(x2=42.67,P<0.01).The prevalence of male and famale is increasing, especially the50years old group of female(x2=89.47, P<0.01), accompaning with the increasing age.However, the prevalence decreases from the70years old group of male and60years old group of female.3.Among combinations of clinical compositions of metabolic syndrome, the combination of hypertension, high triglyeride, high waistline is higher, occupying to29.43%.4.Risk factors of metabolic syndrome:Age(OR=1.329), female(OR=1.927), diabetes family history(OR=2.356), smoking(OR=3.724) and obesity(OR=1.461), smoking and diabetes family history are major risk factors; High degree of education is the pretective factor.[Conclusions]1. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in Tianjin policeman is higher than the averge level of China, the level of professional crowd in Beijingand the level of professional crowd in Guangzhou.2. Analysis of risk factors of metabolic syndrome in Tianjin policeman:Female, age, smoking, obesity and diabetes family history are risk factors of metabolic syndrome, but high degree of education is the protective factor of metabolic syndrome.
