Survey And Analysis About Information And Cause Of Death On In-Service Policeman In Tianjin City

Objectives:Occupational hazard for policeman is one of important topic. This observation will provide some data of death of policeman in Tianjin, exploring death risk and establishing prophylactic measure.Methods:A survey was carried out in male policemen from Jan 1, 1990 to Dec 31, 2000, information of death was described and analyzed. We calculate expected death number, SMR , RSMR, confidence interval, significance test and make abridged life table by Jiangqinglang's Method.Results:l.This study investigated in-service policeman who died from Jan 1, 1990 to Dec 31, 2000. Policeman who died from all cause of death is 314, age is from 20 to 59 years old, average age is 45.56 ?0.432. Malignant tumor, heart disease and traffic accident are first three leading cause.3. All cause SMR is 1.18 (95%CI: 1.06-1.32, P<0.01.)4. SMR for malignant tumor is 1.44,(95%CI: 1.20-1.72,P<0.05),thehighest of that is in the group of age 45-49(p<0.05). And hepatocarcinoma'sSMRisl.95(95%CI: 1.43-2.61, P<0.01)5. The expectant life for 20-29 years old group is 2.33 year, less thanthat of male residants.Conclusions:The study shows that malignant tumor, heart disease and traffic accident are leading cause of death in Tianjin policeman , Liver cancer is number 1 in malignant tumor. Particularity of police work is possibly related to higher death probability of traffic accident. Accident are police occupational connatual risk. More attention should be paid to the death risk of policeman.
