Purpose:Investigates perinatal maternal diet-related maternal health literacy, analyzes itspossible influencing factors, provides the basis for carrying out health education anddeveloping health promotion strategies, improves pregnant women‘s maternal healthliteracy levels.Methodology:Referred to related content of “maternal health literacy-basic knowledge andskills” issued by the Ministry of Health in2012, designed a “diet nutrition-relatedmaternal health literacy" questionnaire which include basic knowledge and ideas,healthy lifestyles and behaviors, and basic skills. Randomly selected pregnant womenof single fetus who are two days antepartum to five days postpartum in ChangchunMaternity Hospital as sample. Questionnaires were returned immediately and431questionnaires were valid. Data from Valid questionnaire were statistically analyzedby SPSS17.0software. T-test and χ2test were used to compare rates.Results:1.Basic knowledgeAs for The score of Investigation object’s dietary basic knowledge, although thecollege group is higher than the high school group, the urban group is higher than therural group, but all groups are lower than60points. particularly, as for the knowledgethat those with normal weight before pregnancy, how much pregnancy weight gainedis appropriate, the purpose of taking folic acid supplements during pregnancy and howlong the folic acid should be supplemented during pregnancy, how much folic acidsupplements should be taken per day, intake of calcium during pregnant and lactationperiod, milk is the best food to provide calcium, vitamin C promotes the absorptionof iron, normal hemoglobin and blood pressure of pregnant women, the meaning ofmacrosomia,the meaning of low birth weight babies, mean birth weight of the normal full-term newborn, the optimal weight gained during the1st month of the newborn,the suitable time to breastfeed, continuing to breastfeed after supplementary feedinguntil the infants are2years old or older, there’s no need to supplement calcium in thefirst6months of the normal full term newborn, pregnant women drinking alcohol willharm the fetal, the awareness rate of the knowledge above in each group are less than60%.2.LifestyleThose who knows these are over60%: stop drinking during pregnancy, takingappropriate exercises more than30minutes, monitoring blood pressure, pregnant24weeks to28weeks screening for diabetes, get enough folic acid and calcium3monthsbefore conception and during first3months pregnancy. intake get more than300grams dairy every day during pregnancy, get enough iron, breast feed the infant within1hour after birth, breastfeeding on demand are less than60%. Among them, theamount of calcium during pregnancy were high school less than a college group, thefollowing group of township group than in the cities group; monitoring of bloodpressure during pregnancy, township group than in the cities group.3.Basic SkillsThe recognition and the formation rate of the Basic skills less than60%, in whichinclude: let baby learn to chew around7to8months, train baby to feed themselveswith a spoon around10to12months, do not add salt and flavoring to non-dairy foodsfor infants, if infant has diarrhea, fluids should be received, cannot use sugared waterto substitute breast milk, fasting is not needed. On the recognition and formation rateof the basic skills, the group of high school level lower than the groups of collegelevel, and the group of rural area lower than the urban area group.Conclusion:1.The Level of health literacy knowledge and skills of the investigated womenin the perinatal period is not high overall.2.There exists differences between urban and rural groups on the maternaldietary nutrition related maternal health literacy levels. The recognition and formationrate of the basic knowledge, reasonable lifestyle and basic skills of urban maternal ishigher than those in rural areas.3. Dietary nutrition-related maternal health literacy levels is related to educational level. The recognition and formation rate of basic knowledge, reasonablelifestyle, and basic skills of the group of higher educational level is higher than theless educated group.
