Objective: By doing the experimental research how the Tongfuxiere treat febrilediseases in rat heat syndromes of bacterial meningitis, to investigate antipyretic effect ofthe Tongfuxiere in brain heat illnesses, to study correlationand effect of the brain-gut axisin the febrile disease fever, to explain the antipyretic of the Tongfuxiere mechanism, toestablish fever brain-gut interactions overall concept of the pathogenesis and treatmentmethod of thought.Method: Copy fever Wistar rat models with bacterial meningitis. The effects ontemperature, mental condition and activity performence in real heat rats after infectionwere observed. Using ELISA methord to detect corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH),arginine vasopressin(AVP), substance P (SP), neurotensin (NT), interleukin-4(IL-4),gamma interferon(IFN-γ) in hypothalamus, spinal cord, colon, lung, stomach, kidney, andblood. And using IH method to analyze colonic mucosa closely connected Occludinprotein expression. Feed Wistar rats with dextran blue-2000, and calculate the rate ofintestinal propulsive. Finally, compare and analize the data of the group of Tongfuxierewith the model group and other treatment groups. Results: Compared with the model group, all the groups of drug treatment couldsignificantly decrease the temperature of the fever rats, and reduce different tissues andplasma’s CRH and SP contents, and increase AVP and NT contents, and drop IFN-γ/IL-4ratio, and reinforce Occludin protein expression activities, and strengthen the driving forceof the small intestine. Compared with the other drug treatment groups, the cooling effect of the Tongfuxiere is less than co-medication, but they do not have significantdifference(P>0.05). The antipyretic effect of the combination group is lasting andsignificant, better than the Xingnaokaiqiao group and the Tongfuxiere group. Conclusions: The Tongfuxiere therapy has obvious cooling effect on rat models withmeningitis fever. Its mechanism is affecting the contents of the brain-gut peptides of CRH、AVP、SP、AVP, with the regulation and control from brain-gut axis, enhancing the intestinalimmune function, launching neuro-endocrine-immune net defense system. Meanwhile theTongfuxiere therapy could improve the intestinal structure and the driving force of thesmall intestine. In addition, it is good for the treatment of febrile dieases to considerbrain-gut interactttions overall concept.
