Objective Through the analysis of 170 cases of adult intracranial infection in patients with clinical data, understand Ningxia region in recent 5 years of intracranial infection disease composition, and find different type of intracranial infection in patients with clinical manifestations, laboratory examination, imaging features, intracranial infection in early diagnosis and differential diagnosis of patients to provide the basis. Methods By retrospectively collected in 2010- 2014 visit to the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University and the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Hospital of Ningxia Medical University of adult intracranial infection in patients with clinical data, and using the Hospital internet system(HIS) to collect the clinical manifestations, laboratory tests and imaging data of all the patients who meet the conditions, then using SPSS statistical software to collect and analyze the data. Results In the past 5 years, Patients with intracranial infection, the most common types as are purulent encephalitis/meningitis, viral encephalitis/meningitis and tuberculous meningitis three types are still, the purulent of cerebral/meningitis based, viral of brain/meningitis times of, tuberculosis of brain/meningitis number at least, and other rare pathogen infections are occasionally, number of visits was a rising trend year by year. There were significant differences between the three types of intracranial infection in patients with age and meningeal stimulation(p<0.05), among them, the average age of the patients with viral of brain/meningitis was small, but more positive meningeal stimulation. There are significant differences in white blood cell count(p<0.05), and average of purulent of brain/meningitis’ is the highest in the three. Cerebrospinal fluid pressure, biochemical and cytological differences have statistically significant(p<0.05), Among them, the highest pressure of CSF of tuberculous of brain/meningitis, white blood cell count and neutrophil percentage of CSF of purulent of brain/meningitis were the highest, and the percentage of lymphocytes in CSF in viral brain/meningitis was the highest. The results of imaging showed that the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05), which is mainly in purulent of brain/meningitis’ parenchyma. But there was no statistical significance in gender, ethnic, urban and rural distribution, length of hospital stay, prognosis and other aspects of the three common intracranial infections. Cryptococcal meningitis and neurobrucellosis are relatively rare in clinical, but each has its characteristics of cerebrospinal fluid Conclusion 1. In recent 5 years, the most common types as are purulent encephalitis/meningitis, viral encephalitis/meningitis and tuberculous meningitis three types are still, the purulent purulent encephalitis/meningitis is based, viral encephalitis/meningitis times of, tuberculous meningitis’ s number at least, and the other rare pathogens infection even see. 2. Cerebrospinal fluid cytology and biochemical examination is still the main basis for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of intracranial infection. 3. Three common intracranial infections in clinical and imaging and laboratory tests are still similar to the past. 4. At present, the intracranial infection is still mainly based on clinical diagnosis, and the positive rate of pathogenic examination is low, so it is necessary to find a reliable diagnostic method of pathogenic.
