Objectives1. To investigate the cognitive function and health status of older people in Welfare Institutes in Chongqing City.2. To investigate the relationships between Alzheimer’s disease an d influencial factors, and to provide data for formulate the prevention and treatment policy.Methods1.623elders who signed their names on the informed consent p apers were stratified cluster sampled from9welfare institutes in Cho ngqing city;2. MMSE was used to test the cognitive impairment, ADL was used to test daily life activities, HRSD was used to evaluat depressio n, Hachinski Hachinski distinguish dementia type, CDR was used to test the degree of dementia. Useing DSM-IV and NINCDS/ADRDA s tandard to diagnose AD; 3. Investigated the general characteristics of sex, marriage, educat ion level, economic status and the status of chronic illness and micro nutrients supplements of the elders;4. The data were analyzed with the χ2test and binary logistic re gression.Results1. The total prevalence rate of chronic illness in those who were over60years old was76.8%,the rate was a high level, it increased with the age increased. The morbidity in the top five were:hyperte nsion(43.5%),coronary heart(20.8%), Cerebrovascular disease(17.0%), d isease(16.3%), COPD(6.9%);2. The total prevalence rate of senile dementia in those who wer e over60years old was64.8%.AD occupied the largest incidence56.5%, the prevalence rate of VD and MD was5.9%and2.4%。Amon g these AD patients, Mild/Moderate/Severe type occupied82.0%and15.1%and2.9%;3. The difference between the AD constituent ratio of female su bjects (56.1%) and that of male subjects (57.8%) was not significant (P>0.05). The prevalence of AD increases with age rised (P<0.01). T he group of aged above90years old has the highest illiteracy rates64.7%;4. Six factors were found to be related with AD by unconditi onal single factor Logistic regression analysis (P<0.05):age, marital status, educational level, economic conditions, carer educational level and micronutrient supplements. Five risk factors were found by uncon ditional multivariate logistic regression analysis:aged, low educational level, and low income. Long-term micronutrients supplements are th e protective factors.Conclusion1. The constituent ratio of AD is high in welfare institutes in C hongqing city;2. Aged, low educational level, low income were the risk factors for AD, long-term micronutrients supplements are the protective fact ors. The influential factors of AD should be paid more attention.
