Objective:To find epidemiological characteristics of patients with adverse drug reactionshowing dermatological manifestations, the clinical characteristics of thereactionand the allergenic drugs, in order to provide an objective basis for theeffective guidance of diagnosis and treatment of adverse drug reaction withdermatological manifestation.Method:Review of patients visiting the Department of Dermatology of University ofScience and Technology, treated during the periods of2007-2012for adverse drug reaction with dermatological manifestations were included for the study.Age range was divided into four groups from0to20years old,21to40,41to60and61to80. The other variables considered were incidence according tosex, age of onset, allergenic drugs, the types of skin lesion and the function ofliver and kidney. According to the Clinical manifestations, the patients weredivided into severe group and mild group. All data were analyzed byStatistical Software SPSS19.0.Result:There were245patients, male132and113female, with dermatologicalmanifestation, with male to female ratio1.17:1.The age ranged from1to89years. The average was34.16±16.58years, and84cases (32.29%of total)were from21to40years. The most common causes of adverse drug reactionwere antibiotics, sedative and hypnotic drugs, anticonvulsant drugs andanalgesic drugs. Erythema multiforme like lesionsoccurred in a total of78cases (31.84%),measles-like reaction in53cases (21.63%) and urticarialikelesionsin31cases (12.65%). Sedative and hypnotic and antiepileptic drugsmainly caused Erythema multiforme, the antipyreticandanalgesicdrugsmainly caused measles-like lesions and antibiotics resulted inErythema multiforme and measles-like lesions.Severe adverse drug reactionwas seen in27cases and the rest was mild reaction.Conclusion:1. There was no significant difference between the occurrence of adverse drugreaction and age. 2.The highest number of cases was seen betweenage group of21to40.3.Drug sensitivity was seen with antibiotics, sedative and hypnoticdrugs, anticonvulsantdrugs and analgesic drugs.4. The main types of adverse drug reaction were Erythema multiforme,measles-like and urticarial like lesions.5. Sedative and hypnotic and antiepileptic drugs mainly caused Erythemamultiforme, the antipyretic and analgesicdrugs mainly caused measles-likelesions and antibiotics resulted in Erythema multiforme and measles-likelesions.6.Patients with severe drug reaction had fever and liver functionabnormalities.
