| Background The waterworks for centralized water supply are the providers of drinking water and are responsible of safety of drinking water. The hygienic management and water quality test equipment are the key factors to qualify for requirement of Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB5749-2006), in which the water quality indexes increased to106from35items. Some indexes of the standards related public health have been identified seriously. The new standards implementing need for better water treatment facilities as well as capacity and equipments of water quality self-test.Objective To know the sanitary status and hygienic management of waterworks for centralized water supply at city, county, enterprise and town level in Hefei City as well as to determine the problems these waterworks face with implementing the new Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB5749-2006).Methods The investigation was conducted in waterworks for centralized water supply at city, county, enterprises and town level in Hefei City. The investigator who was trained well carried on the survey. The content of the investigation included the type of water sources, hygienic management, water treatment process as well as capacity and equipment water quality self-test. The data collected in the investigation were input into Special Supervision and Inspection of Drinking Water Hygienic Information Collection System issued by Ministry of Health.Results1. Characteristic of waterworks for centralized water supply in Hefei cityA total of50waterworks for centralized water supply were investigated in this survey. Of them, the waterworks at city, county, enterprise and town level were accounted for10%,6%,6%,78%, respectively.2. The types of water resources of waterworksAs for resource of water, all of these waterworks for centralized water supply at city, county and enterprise,town of75%used surface water as water sources.3. Hygienic managementIn the hygienic management and water treatment process, the waterworks at city level are better than other three levels. From good to worse, the first is waterworks at city level, the second is those of county level, the third is those at enterprise level and the last is those at town level.4. The water Treatment ProcessIn water treatment technology, water purification facilities and the normal operation of the city waterworks waterworks, proportion, county all is100%, since the water was75%, the lowest percentage of town water,73%. Take the coagulation, precipitation, filtration, disinfection of complete water treatment process for city water works, water works, the county were100%, enterprise water and town water plant is relatively low, respectively75%and65%; in the process of water treatment by oxidation, activated carbon, membrane processing of advanced treatment process of municipal water works, the highest proportion, up to100; only a single water disinfection, the highest proportion of rural water works,6%; the water quality does not disinfected, all kinds of water plant are not. Chemical treatment agent and disinfectant to take mechanical cast, the lowest remaining Township waterworks, water was100%.5. Water quality self-testIn quality content, water quality inspection chamber and to the normal operation of the city water works, waterworks, county scale was100%, followed by enterprise water, ratio of83%, the lowest65%town water plant.Conclusion Hygienic management of waterworks of levels for centralized water supply in Hefei City needs to be strengthened, and the water treatment process needs to be improved, the capacity building for self-test of water quality in the waterworks needs to be enhanced. |
