[Objective]To master the status of centralized drinking water quality in Hunan Province rural area, and provide scientific basis for the implementation of the12th Five Year Plan of Hunan province. The relationship between the rural centralized water supply hygiene quality and the waterborne infectious disease incidence was Investigated to establish a quantitative relationship between the two.[Methods] According to stratified random principle,2007rural centralized water supplies from93counties or cities (Districts) were selected in Hunan province for the water quality monitoring and investigation both in dry season and abundant water period. By using Spearman rank correlation and multiple linear regression model, the relationship between centralized rural water supply hygiene index and water borne disease incidence rate were analyzed with single factor and multi factors of qualitative and quantitative reaction.[Results] Rural centralized water supply coverage is29.50%and coverage of centralized water supply disinfection measures13.58%in the monitored countis. Exceed the standard rate of the overall quality monitoring points of centralized water supply was65.08%in the rural areas, the main exceeded indicators is microbial standard. The overall trend of the qualified rate of water is higher in dry season than in the abundant water period(P<0.05); The biger centralized water supply scale is and the more perfect the water treatment process is, the higher quality qualified rate is (P<0.05). The incidence of infectious diarrhea was negatively correlated (P<0.05) with the quality pass rate of total coliforms and the coverage rate with disinfection measures in the rural centralized water supply; The incidence of typhoid was negatively correlated (P<0.05) with water quality overall pass rate. The incidence of bacillary dysentery was related with the disinfection measures coverage of entralized water supply (P<0.05).[Conclusion] The centralized water supply in rural Hunan province has a low coverage, lack of water treatment process, unimproved water quality, exceeded microbial standard rate and hygiene statuts needs improvement. According to the analysis results of the rural areas in the water supply and sanitation quality and waterborne infectious disease incidence rate correlation, the improvement of rural centralized water supply hygiene on the reduction of rural waterborne infectious disease incidence rate has a positive significance.
