Survey And Study On Nursing Needs And Degree Of Satisfaction Of Foreign Patients In Shaoxing Area

Objective:This research aims at researching the nursing needs and degree of satisfaction of foreign patients in shaoxing county area, as well as the opinion and requirement about nursing of foreign patients, then to offer reliable information and data for the application of nursing service in hospital.Methods:We surveyed the foreign patients in China Medical University Shaoxing hospital, using the self-designed questionnaires which was refined again after consulting those experts we invited, who believed that the questionnaire has a good reliability and validity. All the survey data were analysis by SPSS statistical software, using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation for description, and to compare Multi-X group by analysis of variance, least significant difference method (LSD method) for two-two compare; the differences between two groups were compared with the t test, there were significant differences by P<0.05standard. Results:1. We have surveyed130hospitalized foreign patients in China Medical University Shaoxing Hospital,130questionnaires were delivered out,118of them returned, after6invalid excluded, eventually we got112valid questionnaires, effective return rate of the questionnaire was86.1%.2. About the nursing needs, the total scores of10items was25±2.52points, score ranges from17-29, the overall demand is better. Among them," privacy protection" has the highest scores,2.78±0.43, followed by "respect religion" and "the foreign language ability", respectively2.72±0.57and2.71±0.45."The hospital environment" and "the nurse service attitude and etiquette" demand is relatively lower, respectively2.14±0.64and2.09±0.49.3. Patients of different age, religious belief, education have significant difference on multicultural "knowledge" level (P<0.05); there were significant differences on the "skills" demand (P<0.05); patients with different religious beliefs has a significant different degree in nursing "attitude"(P<0.05) patients with different gender, religious beliefs are different on "hospital environment"(P<0.05).4.There are statistically significant differences in nurse multicultural "knowledge" level (P<0.05)with different age, religious beliefs of patients; there were significant differences in patients with different religious beliefs of satisfaction on "attitude"(P<0.05); there were significant differences in patients with different gender of the satisfaction on the "environment"(P<0.05), males are less satisfied to the hospital environment than females; Aged between"40～67" and "18～29" patients are more satisfied of multicultural "knowledge" than "30～39" patients; Hindu patients are less satisfied on multicultural "knowledge" level than other religious believers and non-believers, Catholic patient is lower than that of Islam and no religious belief with nursing "attitude". These differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions:Foreign patients in Shaoxing are having a higher demand of nursing needs, but the degree of satisfaction is not high; nursing needs and satisfaction are different among foreign patients with different culture background, their needs and satisfaction are varied concerning with gender, age, religion, education and so on; there are some problems of nursing in our hospital, so we need to solve them and try our best to further improve our service in order to meet the needs of foreign patients demand and improve the degree of their satisfaction.
