OBJECTIVETo investigate nurses'perception of patient safety culture and nursing adverse events reporting and the status of nursing adverse events reporting;To explore the influence factors of nurses'perception of patient safety culture and the status of nursing adverse event report in grade-3 general hospitals in Hunan province;To provide an empirical evidence for nursing surpervision objective and accurate evaluation and improvement of patient safety culture.METHODS1866 nurses were surveyed from six grade-3 general hospitals in Hunan province by convenience sampling method using three kinds of questionnaires.The common questionnaire was used to investigate demography information of nurses. Patient Safety Culture Assessment Scale about Clinical Nurses were used to survey nurses'perception of patient safety culture and of its related hospital; The questionnaire of Nurses'Perceptions of Adverse Event Reporting was explored the nurses'perceptions of adverse event report. The data were analyzed by SPSS16.0.Statistical methods include descriptive statistics analysis, independ sample t-test,variance analysis,χ2 test,multiple linear regression analysis and logistic regression analysis.RESULTS1 Nurses'perception of patient safety culture had average score (3.57±0.42),and average percent positive response (59.58%).Five factors in descending order according to the questionnaire score were Teamwork Climate, Safety Climate, Job Satisfaction, Perception of Management and Stress Reperception. There were statistically significant difference in nurses'perception of patient safety culture among different age,education background,technical title, position, service years,type of recruitment and department(P<0.05),and no statistically significant difference among different marriage (P> 0.05).2 The rate of nurses who reported voluntarily adverse events was 24.71%.There were statistically significant difference among different age,education background, position,technical title, service years, type of recruitment and department(P<0.05).3 Multiple linear regression analysis with nurses'perceptions of patient safety culture showed that service years, position and technical title entered into the regression equation;Multiple linear regression analysis with nurses'perceptions of adverse events reporting showed that technical title and education background.4 Logistic regression analysis with nursing adverse events reporting showed that nurses'perception of patient safety culture and nursing adverse event report and technical title entered into the regression equation.CONCLUSION1 Nurses'perception of patient safety culture is at the middle lever among which Teamwork is an area of strength ,while Stress Reperception is an area with potential for improvement. There are statistically significant difference of nurses'perception of patient safety culture among different age,education background,technical title, position, service years,type of recruitment and department.2 The rate of nurses who reported voluntarily adverse events is low. There are statistically significant difference among different age, education background, position,technical title, service years, type of recruitment and department.3 Service years, position and technical title are the influence factors of nurses'perception of patient safety culture. Technical title and education background are the influence factors of nurses'perception of adverse events reporting. 4 Nurses'perception of patient safety culture and nursing adverse event reporting and technical titles are the influence factors of nursing adverse events reporting.
