Objective: To observe the effect of Andrographolide in lowering the body’stemperature and reach Andrographolide affecting prostaglandinE2(PGE2),Interleukin-1β(IL-1β),Interleukin-6(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in blood serum of children with fever in bronchopneumonia.Methods: According to the inclusion and exclusion, children who werehospitalized because of bronchopneumonia in Respiratory Department of DalianChildren’s hospital from October2011to March2012are collected. All children arerandomly divided into two groups: the observation group and the comparison group. Inthe observation group, the children are given Andrographolide with routine antibiotictreatment, while the children are given only routine antibiotic treatment in thecomparison group. The two groups are given the same supporting therapy and7to10days is the period of treatment.20children from each group are tested twice for theirblood.One is before treatment and the other time is that when the child’s bodytemperature is lowered after24hours. The concentrations of PGE2,IL-1β, IL-6, IFN-γand TNF-α are detected in the blood by ELISA.Result:1.The children who according to the inclusion were73,33boys and41girls.Theaverage age of all children was3.22±0.199years. There were41in the observationgroup,19boys and22girls. And there were32in the observation group,14boys and18girls.2.The time of lowering the body’s temperature in the observation group was3.10±0.25days,while the comparison group was4.16±0.23days. The observation grouptime of lowering the body’s temperature obviously surpasses the comparisongroup(P<0.05). The time of cough significantly reduced was3.20±1.01days in the observation group,while the comparison group was5.22±1.13days.The observationgroup time of cough significantly reduce obviously surpasses the comparisongroup(P<0.05). The cure rate of the observation group was87.8%, while thecomparison group was68.8%. The cure rate of the observation group was better thanthat of the comparison group(P<0.05).3.The change of Cytokines’ concentration and compared: There is significantdifference between concentration of IL-6and IFN-γ in blood before and after usingAndrographolide in the observation group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). Thereis significant difference between concentration of PGE2and IFN-γ in blood between theobservation group and the comparison group after using medicine, with statisticalsignificance(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Andrographolide can shorten the time of fever and cough in bronchialpneumonia.2.Andrographolide can decrease releasing of PGE2in blood.3.Andrographolide can also decrease concentration of IFN-γ and IL-6in blood.But has no effect on IL-1β and TNF-α in blood in our observing cases.
