It is importance for nurses to work in their work because the nurses’ personality traitsand affect have a direct effect on their work and the care of their patients. They are animportant factor to decide whether the nurses could take positive attitude to their work. With the rising of positive psychology, work engagement has been become a new hot forhuman resource management and organizational behavior research. It’s easy for them tobe "high risk" groups in that their increasing workload, interpersonal conflict, role conflict. It’s necessary for us to study the reasons of the nurses’ working engagement because theirenthusiasm is poor in their work and serious loss of efficiency. In the present study, westudy the model of the nurses’ work engagement on the base of the nurses’ coreself-evaluations, narcissism, positive and negative affect and job satisfaction. It alsoprovides some theory of improving their enthusiasm and selecting, attracting and retainingnursing talents. This article examines the relationship between personality traits, and workengagement and the effect of affect and job satisfaction on this relationship. Questionnaires were administered to501nurses who are in a Class-three-Grade hospital, measuring personality traits, affect, and job attitude with random sampling method. Datawas analyzed by the methods of correlation Analysis、Bayesian Estimation、ConfirmatoryFactor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling. Results:Correlate analysis indicated the core self-evaluations, narcissism, positive and negativeaffect, and job satisfaction have a significant on the nurses’ work engagement.Positive affect fully mediated the relationship between narcissism and workengagement; negative affect did not mediate the relationship between narcissism and workengagement.Positive affect partially mediated the relationship between core self-evaluations andwork engagement; negative affect did not mediate the relationship between coreself-evaluations and work engagement.Job satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between core self-evaluations andwork engagement; job satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between narcissismand work engagement.Job satisfaction also partially mediated the relationship between positive affect andwork engagement.Positive affect partially mediated the relationship between core self-evaluations andjob satisfaction; Negative affect did not mediate the relationship between coreself-evaluations and job satisfaction.Bayesian Estimation also indicated two significant paths from narcissism throughpositive affect and job satisfaction to work engagement and from core self-evaluationsthrough positive affect and job satisfaction to work engagement. Conclusions:Research indicated that core self-evaluations, narcissism, positive and negative affect, job satisfaction have an important effect on work engagement. In the study of workengagement, results indicated that positive affect fully mediated the relationship betweennarcissism and work engagement, job satisfaction;positive affect and job satisfactionpartially mediated the relation between core self-evaluation and work engagement;positive affect partially mediated the relationship between core self-evaluations and jobsatisfaction; job satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between positive affect and work engagement; Bayesian Estimation revealed that narcissus and core self-evaluations’nurses are more likely to experience positive affect, which may increase their jobsatisfaction and work engagement.
