With the advancement of technology and development of transportation, building an intelligent transport management system has become the inevitable trend of modern transport industry. In order to govern the transfinite of the vehicle and standardize road transport order, the Dynamic Monitoring System for Vehicle Load is designed to relieve frequent traffic accidents, road damage, the loss of state taxes, environmental pollution and other social and environmental issues caused by vehicle overloading.Firstly, the hardware components of the dynamic monitoring system are analyzed in this paper. It consists of three main functional devices, namely ultrasonic load measuring device, the cab handheld device and the communication device. The ultrasonic measuring device, which is mounted on the wheel load stent, measures the vehicle load by using the ultrasonic ranging technology and temperature compensation. The cab handheld device is designed for drivers to view the real-time vehicle load. The communication device sends the vehicle load information and position information to the remote monitoring platform by using3G/GPRS network. It is convenient for managers to supervise and control the vehicle by using this information.Secondly, the process of software design is introduced. The main function of the ultrasonic load measuring device is receiving and processing the data collected by the ultrasonic sensors and sending the processed data to the cab handheld devices and the communications device. The cab handheld device receives the load information and displays it on the LCD screen. The communication device receives the load information and BDS positioning information and then sends them out by using TCP/IP protocol in3G network.Finally, a field test is conducted in Qinhuangdao Jinhai Food Co., Ltd by using the debugging interface based on the C#for the ultrasonic load measuring device. Then we analyze the measured data by using the recursive least squares algorithm to further verify the rationality and validity of the design.
