Research On Outdoor Environment Design Of The Hui Community In City

The Hui nationality is of the largest number of Chinese minorities.Being a Hui Muslim settlement,the Hui community has its own unique dwelling culture.However,along with the urbanization process in depth of our country,the contradiction of peculiarity of the Hui community culture and the integration of city culture becomes increasingly prominent.The problem is at the heart of the mismatching between the outdoor environmental landscape of the Hui community and its religion,lifestyle,culture and customs.The outdoor environmental landscapes of Hui community restrict the orderly development,because of its uncomfortable space for activities,poor environment and the violation of the public facilities against the Hui people’s custom taboo.Based on this problem,this paper have studied the design principle and pattern of the Hui outdoor environmental landscape through the methods of literature induction,questionnaire survey and the PRA investigation and analysis.Here is the main points:(1) Investigation and analysis of the Hui community:Through the field survey of the main Hui community of our country and the extraction and purification of the elements of the Hui landscape design,this research put forwards that the main problems of the outdoor environmental landscape of Hui community are the deficiency of the ethnic characteristics,the absence of people’s participation in public space,the low usage rate of green space between dwellings and the improper development and protection of business street.In the meantime,the paper summarized two special needs of the Hui community in social needs and lifestyle.Comparative study with other minority community:Take the Tibetan nationality and the Dai nationality as example,whose community is characteristic and fully developed, analyses their similarities and differentiations with the Hui community.(2) Field survey and comparative research in cases:Presents the design principles of the Hui community outdoor environmental landscape in city:Islamic tradition gardening principles; General principles of urban characteristics; Ethnic heritage principle; Principles of cultural integration; Principle to move back in place; Economical principles.Elaborates the outdoor environmental landscape design methods in the urban Hui community masjid,the Hui dwellings,the Hui graveyard,the Hui commercial streets.(3) Planning and design practice in specific cases:Around the ethnic features,conducted specialized design on plant communities in the Hui community,public buildings and landscape essays,the center green,residential buildings,national customs streets. According to the needs of the Hui people,this paper aims at exploring appropriate outdoor environmental landscape design patterns of the Hui community to fulfill the requirements of the Hui people in life,religion and material,protecting and developing the traditional culture features of the Hui,seeking out the sense of belonging of the Hui people.
