A Study On Planning And Design Of Rhododendron Garden In Low Altitude

Rhododendron genera plants of ericaceae are the world-famous ornamental plant groups. There are over1000species all over the world, nearly600species (not including type of the species) in China. Although our country is a rhododendron resources big country, but Chinese rhododendron gardens lack of international influence. There is a certain gap in terms of rhododendron garden’s landscape level between China and the developed countries. Researches on the rhododendron gardens in planning and design fields are rarely reported. Studying on rhododendron gardens in the planning and design will enhance the landscape level of rhododendron gardens in China, have far-reaching significance in building a unique and having a certain influence of rhododendron gardens. This thesis uses the method of literature study, inductive analysis and case study, etc. It illustrates that the rhododendron gardens’s first task is the plants of the genus rhododendron collection, research, display, viewing, and then considers production. This article points out that the rhododendron’s value in terms of viewing, tourism, edible, medical, industry, and cultural and analyses the theme garden’s planning application in shaping characteristics, comprehensively interpret the topic types of the rhododendron gardens. This paper takes low altitude Rhododendron garden, West China Subalpine Botanical Garden, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences as an example. It is guided by the ternary theory of landscape design in garden design. Take the idea of "natural, elegant, chic and friendly" as the design concept with practice. Put forward the feasible design vision in the functional partition, traffic system, water system, landscape architecture, garden ornament, labeling systems and plant landscape planning, etc. Fill the domestic blank in low altitude rhododendron gardens construction and has certain model significance.
