With the development of China’s modernization, urban construction hasexperienced a process which from the stage of losing of characteristic of constructionregionalism, and all the buildings look similar to the stage of architectures becomelocalization, and traditional culture and modern culture fused together. Fortunately, theproblem about how to fuse traditional culture and modern culture together gets moreand more attentions from all sectors of society. And also there are more and moredomestic architects make various attempts.After the Qin-dynasty unified the six countries, as the first centralized state inChinese history, it created the history of China’s feudal rule. The dynasty following itis the Han-dynasty which sets up another powerful feudal dynasty in China. Its rulelasted410years. The architectures during the period had an important position inChinese architectural history. However, the buildings which developed under thebackground of the Qin and Han-dynasty’s culture still have not accurate academicdefinition. In this thesis, the author trys to define it, through a lot of research, analysisand research. During the progress the author adhere the three principles that typical,in a specific historical circumstances or special requirements region, obviously similarof the Qin and Han-dynasty’s architectural feature. The author choose four domesticprovinces, seven cities, a total of29representative Qin and Han-dynasty style buildings as the research objects. This thesis makes the in-depth analysis and researchon theirs architectural forms.First of all, this thesis elaborates the general situations of the29projects Qinand Han-dynasty style buildings in order to make the reader understand and grasp thecases of investigation and research from the macroscopic level. Then, look upliteratures and archaeological materials, site investigations with research methods ofcomparison research and dynamic research. The author cherish the spirit of“truth-seeking”, take the object of study divided into the Qin and Han-dynasty stylebuildings of copy the old type and deduce type. To the parts which has lingering charmof the Qin and Han-dynasty building, the thesis make analysis and summary fromarchitectural composition, architectural image, building materials, architecturalornament, architectural color, and so on. In the analysis of each chapter, adhering thespirit of “truth-seeking”, the author firstly finds out the corresponding prototype ofarchitectural creation of the Qin and Han-dynasty, then compares and analyses with theexisting form, sorts a lot of firsthand materials, contrasts and summaries that howarchitectural form deduce to reflect the Qin and Han-dynasty historical lingering charmbetter in the contemporary Qin and Han-dynasty style architecture creation. On thisbasis, finally the thesis evaluates the influence of the existing Qin and Han-dynastystyle architecture creations, and collects evaluations of the existing Qin andHan-dynasty style architecture from different cultural backgrounds, for example,architect and scholars, city leaderships and managers, and the public. In addition, theauthor also puts forward personal evaluation and suggestions. The whole paperprovides the detailed basis information, in order to guide the domestic Qin andHan-dynasty style architecture design in the future, and it also plays a reference role ofthe creative ideas.
