| The Tibetan architectural art plays an important role in varieties of building stylesof multiple nationalities in China, which is one of the most unique and precious nationalarchitectural heritages. With the wide area of Tibet, the cultures and climates are variousdeveloping different local architectures. Besides Tibet Municipality, Tibetan People alsosettle in area of Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Yunnan-Tibet, distributing in Gannan,Guoluo, Yushu, Hainan, Haibei, Ganzi, Aba, Diqing, and several other Tibetanautonomous prefectures. Part of Haixi prefecture in Qinghai, Tianzhu prefecture inGansu and Muli prefecture in Sichuan are also included.The Tibetan-Qiang ethnic minority lives in Alpine Valley region of westernSichuan,‘Tibetan-Yi-Corridor’ region where multiple ethnic cultures are mixed. Withthe special geographic location and the mixed cultures the local settlements andarchitectures are very unique. How to inherit and develop the local architectural culturehas become an issue today. Based on the practical post-earthquake reconstruction inTibet-Qiang village after Wenchuan earthquake, this paper explores an approach ofethnic minority village construction with respect of local culture, spirit and customs.Based on field study, the paper analyzes post-earthquake construction inTibet-Qiang village as a case study from four aspects including: site selection,settlement planning, architectural design and techniques. How to inherit and upgrade thetraditional building art and techniques is also discussed in the paper. The ideas, methodsand strategies to design and plan the reconstruction project are summarized in order tocontribute to the development and renewal of Tibet-Qiang settlements. |
