Medical Environment Personalization is a leading idea in the design andmanagement of modern hospital. The architectural design of psychopathic hospital isdifferent from the other type of hospitals, because the patients and treatments in it arespecial. The space quality of nursing unit, which patients and staffs use the most, issignificant to the treatment and rehabilitation effect of patients and the work efficiencyof medical staffs.The thesis summarizes, compared by foreign psychopathic hospital, thedisadvantage of space and environment design of nursing unit of domestic psychopathichospital, by theoretical analysis and pragmatic researches. Furthermore, it points out thephysical and mental needs, the behavior features of users (patients, medical staffs,visitors) and how the needs affect space and environment. Based on the environmentalpsychology theory and the pattern language method, the thesis raises design methods ofnursing unit of psychopathic hospital. Including functional composition, spatial layout,graphic form, color environment and "prevention" mechanism design elements, as wellas the functional elements of the specific location, form, size, lighting and equipmentdesign.This research is helpful to optimize the system of medical building design andimprove the environment of psychopathic hospital. It is a reference and guidance forpsychopathic hospital design.
