Project schedule control is crucial to the success of a project, which is playing an important part in cost controlling and quality assurance of projects. Schedule control theory forms a very important part in schedule control, and it has a wide range of applications in project management. Generator repairing project is a special subject in Coal-fired power enterprise. It involves a variety of tasks and researchers. It concerns with preparation before repair of the equipment, training, plan, organization, coordinate, control, command work etc. It is important to finish the repair as soon as possible. In order to accomplish this goal, we need good plan, organization, implementation and control, which can improve the equipment reliability and reduce cost. In traditional project managements, due to the defect of the management method, often happen engineering construction schedule and the original plan of the far.Firstly, This paper studied the present research of project schedule management adequately. Then we summarized the main schedule management theories and methods. Afterwards, we researched the critical chain based on TOC in detail, and the characteristics of generator repairing projects. Then we constructed the mode of generator repair schedule management. Based on this, we discussed the applications of the critical chain method in generator repairing projects, which helped us to solve problems such as key chain determination, setting the buffer, and resources balance problem. We also attempt to solve the problem of adjustment schedule by adjusting the key work, resources, and work logic relationship.In the end, we introduced the engineering to participate in Guohua Pandian#1generator(TBB-500-2EY3) repair project. In this part, we studied the project schedule management methods based on actual project. To solve the problems in traditional project managements, we use critical chain methods to eliminate the resource conflict. Then we use MSproject to prepare the project schedule. What’s more, we control the schedule throw differents ways such as organizational, technical, economic, informational ones, and Responsibility Assignment Matrix(RAM). Practice results showed that it worked well, we saved1day in the whole project. More important thing is that we accumulated experience of planning and controlling in this project, which will be useful in similar projects.
