To reduce the labor intensity and improve the compatibility of the equipment, a liftingand turnover device was designed, based on meeting the requirements of transferringmaterials, which were processed by large chemical reactor. The equipment was composed ofmechanical structures and control system.First, explicit goal was proposed and overall design schemes were determined afteranalyzing the equipment’s functionality in detail. On that basis, the main movementmechanisms including location, lifting and drop, and turning mechanisms were designed.Then the system’s transmission chain was designed and calculated, and the key componentswere analyzed using finite element analysis software.Secondly, the objective function was established and solved, the maximum input torsionand optimal roll-over stand height were obtained. The objective function was built from thelowest among the three maximum input torsions which were obtained by rolling threedifferent specifications reactors. The shaft position of the turnover mechanism and roll-overangle were functional arguments. Ensure that the roll-over was stable and without shocks, androll-over range and roll-over stand height range were constraint conditions as well.Meanwhile, the pneumatic motor power and type were confirmed.Afterwards, in consideration of the reactor’s motion control, work station control andsystem’s explosion protection requirements, the plan combined with full pneumatic work andPLC control was proposed. Different specifications reactors’ work stations were changed bycontrol of multipositon cylinder. And the reactors’ rise and drop and roll-over movement werecontrolled by pneumatic motor. Magnetic valves, pneumatic control valves and shuttle valveswere utilized, and pneumatic circuits were designed, respectively. At the same time, thepneumatic circuits working principles and total composition were analyzed. Based on thePLC control scheme and long-range control, PLC control system was designed.Finally, the device was manufactured according to the optimization results. Themechanical structures, pneumatic control system and PLC control system were installed, debugged and tested. The results showed that the system was satisfied with all designrequirements. The equipment has been put into practical use at present.
