| Climate change is one of the world’s top ten environmental issues. The study shows that the main driving factor for climate change is carbon dioxide which contributes to warming up to63%. As a model of breaking resources and environment constraints in China, Jiangsu province put forward the strategic framework of building a low carbon province in year of2010. So it is of great importance to take measures to reduce carbon emission that accurately grasp characteristics of regional carbon emission and study factors of affecting carbon emission. This essay first reviews carbon emission research situation at home and aboard, mainly including research areas of carbon emission, measurements of carbon emission, factors of affecting carbon emission and methods of studying carbon emission influences. This essay checks energy consumptions of the13cities in Jiangsu province from year of2000to2011. Accordingly, this essay also accounts the total carbon emission. Then pick indexes of total carbon emission, average carbon emission and carbon intensity. This essay analyzes time and space evolution of carbon emission in Jiangsu province with GIS map.Building carbon emission decoupling indicators of Jiangsu according to Tapio’s decoupling indicators, then estimating the Jiangsu province, the13cities in Jiangsu province and the three areas in Jiansu. It can be concluded from this study that:①It generally shows a feature that per capita carbon emission in northern and eastern Jiangsu is lower while in southern and western Jiangsu is higher and this two situations are clearly split. Suzhou from southern Jiangsu has the highest per capita carbon emission, which came to6.91ton per person in2011. The second place goes to Nanjing city, whose per capita carbon emission reached6.80ton per person. The per capita carbon emission in western areas of Northern and Central Jiangsu is generally higher than that in eastern area. The low value anomalous area is Suqian city from Western Jiangsu with a per capita carbon emission of0.19ton per person, which is also the lowest value in Jiangsu. The highest per capita carbon emission in Northern Jiangsu appears in Xuzhou city with a per capita carbon emission of3.35ton per person.②Carbon intensity has the feature of both Southern and Northern Jiangsu have a center, also has the trend of high in the west and low in the east. The lowest value area also is Suqian city with a value of0.08ton per million. While the highest value is in Xuzhou city from Northern Jiangsu, whose value reaches0.92ton per million. The second is Nanjing city from Southern with a value of0.70ton per million. Xuzhou city and Nanjing city consist of the two carbon intensity peaks. The other places follow the trend of high in the west and low in the east. There is a big difference between each city, such as the carbon intensity in Xuzhou city is11.5times as that in Suqian city.③Generally, the decoupling index is not that high and shows a trend of weak DI.On this basis, using panel data and STIRPAT model and basing on regional division of Southern Jiangsu, Central Jiangsu and Northern Jiangsu, this paper studies the influence of population scale, economic growth and technical level (energy intensity) to the carbon emission pattern in Jiangsu. Finally, the paper puts forward some suggestions on reducing emission. |
