President Xi Jinping solemnly declared at the 75th session of the General Assembly that China will strengthen its contribution to the world’s ecological protection and achieve the dual carbon goal of peaking China’s carbon dioxide emissions by 2030while achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.The dual carbon goal requires us to deeply grasp the relationship between environmental protection and economic development, gradually reduce the dependence of economic development on environmental pollution, and achieve a strong decoupling of economic development from CO2.Therefore,this thesis deeply analyzes the decoupling relationship between CO2emissions and economic development level in 44 regions of Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle, quantifies the extent of the role of economic development level on CO2emissions,and proposes corresponding policy recommendations. This thesis estimates the CO2emissions of each region from 2009 to 2020 based on nighttime lighting data, overcoming the problem of the lack of relevant statistics at the grassroots level, and carries out research on the relationship between the level of economic development and CO2emissions based on this data.Using the combination of Tapio decoupling index method and LMDI factor decomposition method, the decoupling relationship between carbon dioxide emissions and economic development in each region during 2010-2020 and its driving factors are deeply analyzed, and a The double threshold model was established. The research results show that:(1)there is a significant improvement in carbon emission intensity as a whole, and there are different degrees of reduction in carbon emission intensity in all 44 regions, among which, the effect of emission reduction is obvious in Bishan District and Dazu District, and the carbon dioxide emission intensity in Yuzhong District is small and stable.(2)The Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle and the 44 regions within it are basically at the stage of weak decoupling between CO2emissions and economic development level in 2010-2020,but basically have not yet achieved strong decoupling,Yuzhong District and Qianjiang District have steadily achieved strong decoupling, and Dianjiang County and Liangping District have a strong trend of transformation to strong decoupling.(3)Energy intensity and GDP per capita play a major role in regulating CO2emissions,and population factors play a less intense role.(4)There is a double threshold effect of carbon dioxide emissions and economic development level with energy intensity as the threshold variable. When energy intensity is below the first threshold-0.793,between the two thresholds and above the second threshold-0.323,the coefficients of economic development level increase sequentially to 0.320,0.417 and0.586 respectively, indicating that the promotion effect of economic development level on carbon dioxide emission promotion effect increases step by step with the energy intensity level, and improving energy use efficiency can effectively promote the decoupling of both.Based on the above study, this thesis puts forward some policy recommendations. |
