In recent years our country suffered several devastating earthquakes,which has given people with great loss of life and property.But as a result of modern earthquake forecasting is still fails to meet the requirements,thus earthquake rapid relief is an effective method to reduce the earthquake disaster loss.In today’s society,which is to put people first,the most concern is often the casualty loss after the earthquake,which is making to provide an important basis for the disaster relief plan for decision.In this paper, my research was based on the seismic spatial information grid platform which has built.This platform provide reliable and powerful information support and platform security for the earthquake disaster loss assessment of population.GIS,which has a powerful spatial data management and spatial analysis, map display capability, can be well applied in earthquake disaster loss assessment of population.In this thesis, the earthquake disaster loss in population research background and the present situation at home and abroad are analyzed at first.Meanwhile the paper gives a brief introduction to GIS and spatial information grid technology application to the earthquake disaster. And then the SIMG related theory was mentioned. The most important is the introduction of the population loss estimation model. The basic concepts and algorithms of the model are described,and the evaluation process are briefly described.Because of the earthquake effect must be known before estimated population loss,therefore the seismic intensity map,which is the drawing of earthquake intensity map based on the intensity attenuation model, would need to get in advance. According to the above theory,earthquake disaster loss evaluation system of population was designed and developed using ArcEngine components tool, with SQL Server2008used as the database platform and ArcSDE used as the spatial data engine for the spatial database solutions.Finally, the Tan cheng County is analyzed as an example of this method.
