The analysis of groundwater environmental capacity and groundwater vulnerability is important for the effective protection and exploitation of groundwater resources. It can reveal the state of groundwater environment and the degree of regional groundwater vulnerability, and furthermore support the industrial and agricultural development. Therefore, it has great practical significance to strengthen groundwater environmental capacity and vulnerability research on the rational development, utilization and protection of groundwater resources.Nowadays, most studies on groundwater environmental capacity in China and aboard focus on the water quality of the groundwater and single-indicator quantatitive analysis, and qualitative researches are comparatively rare. Meanwhile, researches on groundwater vulnerability in China and abroad are mostly limited to the nature of the vulnerability of groundwater, and seldomly expand to the groundwater special vulnerabilit. Therefore, it has certain theoretical significance to carry out the researches on groundwater environmental capacity based on the multi-factors qualitative index and groundwater vulnerability under the effect of human activities.Jingsheng basin is a typical example where the human activities are active and its environment is vulnerable. Based on the comprehensive review of previous related concepts, according to the actual conditions of Jingsheng basin, integrated with Gis technique, we conducted the assessment and the dynamic analysis on groundwater environmental capacity and groundwater vulnerability of Jingsheng basin by Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation and Comprehensive Index Method, and revealed the relationship between human activity and groundwater environmental capacity and groundwater vulnerability. Our research has shown that:Firstly, the level of groundwater environment capacity in2003and2010belonged to high capacity and low capacity, respectively, and groundwater environmental capacity tended to decrease; through the analysis of the evaluation index, the correlation between groundwater quality (Q) and water volume (V) and the environmental capacity is negative.Secondly, the groundwater vulnerability spatially decreased from the western part of the basin to the east and temporally tended to increase.Thirdly, groundwater quality, groundwater exploitation and groundwater levels are negatively related to the groundwater environmental capacity. As the deteriorating of groundwater quality, the increasing of groundwater development and utilization degree, and the deepening of the groundwater level drop, groundwater capacity is constantly decreasing. With the groundwater level declining year by year, the groundwater vulnerability showed non-linear negative correlation with buried depth of the groundwater level. The groundwater vulnerability of Jingsheng basin temporally tended to increase and spatially decrease from the west to the east. And the amplititude of variation of the groundwater vulnerability level in west part of the basin is greater than the eastern part.Generally speaking, the analysis could provide sciencific basis for the rational exploitation, efficient utilization and effective protection of the groundwater in Jingsheng basin. Additionally, it could help to guide the further exploitation and utilization of groundwater in other regions.
