Corporate middle managers are between senior managers and junior staff, they are responsible for the communication and coordination within the organization in order to fulfill the tasks accordingly.They are the backbone of the enterprise and valuable human resources in the process of enterprise development and playing a decisive role. In view of the special position of middle managers in the enterprise, to strengthen the training of middle-level managers and enhance the comprehensive ability of middle managers is critical for the future development of enterprises, as well as the dominant position in the market competition.The selected object of the research paper is company L. Firstly, author obtained depth understanding of the characteristics of the middle managers of L company through questionnaires and face-to-face interviews and analyze the problems of the existing training system, proposed to build a training system for middle managers on the basis of the competency model.Secondly, establish competency model for the middle managers in company L based on competency and competency model theory. And then assess the competency of the middle managers by professional evaluation method. Thirdly, depending on the target competency and the actual level of competency gap analysis, combined with traditional training needs survey method to work out a basis to determine training needs and followed by designing a systematic training system for middle managers in company I, Finally, provide some suggestions on how to evaluate the new training system.This study can be the model of setting up competency-based training system and provide the relevant experience and methodology. But the training and development of middle managers is not in a standard way, according to different environment and stage of the enterprise, the adjustments need to be taken in order to better serve the corporate strategy and development.
