With the improvement of the market economy system,China’s petrochemical industry has been trying to find a more reasonable way for its development. There are more enterprises that have been aware of the significance of scientific management aimed at adapting to the demand of the domestic economy. Especially the specialty of the petrochemical industry,which is a long-term project with higher investments and a more complex personnel structure, they all require a higher developed management system.The EPC mode has improved project management in the petrochemical industry by using a more comprehensive management system. However, facing large scale project for example the expansion program of Hohhot Petrochemical, the EPC mode has been found hard to be used through the whole project. China’s enterprises have to discover a better management method based on the country’s circumstances.In the essay, the first chapter introduces the research’s aims, purposes, research methods, procedures, current situation of the development of domestic theory, and the application situation. Especially focusing on the application and development of EPC mode in domestic and overseas enterprises. The second chapter introduces the theory of project management, including its significance, characteristics and mode.Especially for the EPC mode and its advangtage. The third chapter introduce the owner and contractors of the project firstly,and then,expound the "Owner+Supervision+EPC" mode fited for the project,lastly elaborates how to manage projects in different processes under the mode. From introducing the project’s owner and contractor, to how to manage the project in design process, purchase process and construction process. In addition, the research also claims a integrated management system through demonstrates processes, quality, budget control and HSE management. The fourth chapter points out the drawbacks of Hohhot Sinopec project’s management, the reasons of them found by fish-bone method.. The last chapter sums up the management system of the improved Hohhot Sinopec project as well as the potential of this project’s future.
