However, the diversification, cost and risk of market investment present big pressure and difficulty to domestic road and bridge construction companies, and lead to the smaller and smaller profit margin in the construction project. Then, project department must reduce cost reasonably to achieve the biggest profit. Therefore, how to strengthen the project cost management and reduce the project cost have become a very urgent task for construction enterprises.Adopting project cost management theory, this paper use the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis combination of research methods. from the status of cost management, this paper consider the project cost management problems in these areas, cost element control, organizational structure, cost control responsibility, quality cost control and its contract management problems. Through in-depth discussion, the paper targeted forward reasonable proposals to improve the cost management of construction projects. On the one hand, from the short term, construction enterprises must to strengthen the pre-construction, during and after the cost control; the other hand, from the long-term point of view, they need to establish a perfect cost management system, including functional organization, cost control responsibility, the cost evaluation system, the cost of management information; Final recommendations to improve cost management in terms of forecasting, planning, control, accounting, analysis and assessment.
