Hefei City, located in the middle of Anhui Province, accounts for an important part in the economic development in Anhui Province. During thirty years’development since Reform and Opening up, the number of star hotels is increasing year by year along with the rapid growth of the hotel industry in Hefei. However, the staff turnover rate has been maintained at around25%for star hotels in Hefei in recent years. Such a high rate will not only result in the loss of the technics and professional skills, which affect the normal operation of the companies, but also threaten their survival and development. Therefore, how to improve the orderly flow of employees to avoid staff turnover and realize the best allocation of human resources is one hard problem that every star hotel commonly faces and strives to solve. This is also the key to the healthy and sustainable development in star hotel industry in Hefei. The research for the star hotels in Hefei is of particularity due to its late start and backward level of management, and the study focusing on high staff turnover rates in Hefei-star hotels is still rare currently. This paper first outlines the background, the significance of the study and the methods that are used for the research. Then, based on theoretical research, it explains the concept of employee turnover, the model of loss and the loss of the governance. After that, with the assistance of SPSS18.0statistical software to analyze the data collected, it verifies several related factors that contribute to the high staff turnover rate, using the variance analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Finally, through empirical analysis, it points out the key factors targeted from the perspectives of both the job satisfaction and organizational commitment:salaries and employee benefits, working conditions, appreciation, promotion in the work, leadership, emotional commitment, and regulation commitment. In addition, when referring to personal characteristics, the job satisfaction varies between marital status, age, qualification, seniority and position; for the organizational commitment, significant differences exist in the age, seniority and position. What’s more, the peak of the staff turnover rate lies in the employees who have worked for less than six months, and the tendency of changing the job will increase with the growth of seniority and job. This paper also provides some feasible advices on how to strengthen the organization management and increase employee satisfaction. The conclusion serves its practical and theoretical significance for stabilizing staff turnover, improving human resource management and reducing turnover-caused losses in Hefei-star hotels.
