With the innovation and globalization of knowledge economy, enterprise's survival and development depend on knowledge workers who are highly efficient and qualified. So, how to motivate the knowledge workers is the core issue for human resources management of modern enterprises. Hotel industry is a labor and knowledge intensive industry, the knowledge workers play important role in the development of management in hotels. So how to motivate knowledge workers in this industry to make them more active and creative is a key factor for hotels' developments.The paper analyzes domestic and international theories generally and completely.The purpose of this paper is to improve the human resources management in highly star-rated hotels. This paper tries to find the existing problems in motivations of knowledge workers in hotels. Secondly, figure out the demand factors for knowledge workers of one five-star hotel in Suzhou by questionnaires. After that, the paper bring forwards new possible measures to meet the demands of knowledge workers in order to give out better countermeasure to deal with the existing problems in highly star-rated hotels.Firstly, the paper reviewed and summarized concepts and theories of hotel enterprises and developed the cognition of highly star-rated hotels, at the same time, define what is "knowledge worker" and what are their personal and working characteristics. Secondly, the paper analyzes the existing problems in motivating knowledge workers in hotels. Depending on the questionnaires results and existing situation, the paper tries to bring forward systematical countermeasures to improve the motivations of knowledge workers in highly star-rated hotels. At last, the paper dram some conclusions and point out the disadvantages of this research and the future possible researches.
