Since China adopted the policy of reform and opening to the outside world in 1978, the hotel industry has developed rapidly and taken an increasingly important part in the process of urbanization, with the development of social economy, extension of leisure space and more and more convenient traffic and transportation. However, as the total scale of hotel keeping high-speed growth, the efficiency of China's hotel industry has begun to show a continuous downward trend in recent years. In the past year, many blindly investors, who lacked scientific verification, located freely when they invest in building hotels, have caused the disharmony in the geographical distribution of the hotel and market demand. This paper, from the perspective of geography, selecting Nanchang urban area as the object of study, based on theory summarized and existing condition analysis, systematically combs the research results about the star-rated hotels, and deeply analyses the spatial distribution characteristics of star-rated hotels in Nanchang from the"point-line-surface"three levels. It constructs the spatial distribution of star-rated hotels'driving force model, using and collecting related information and the achievements of previous studies. Based on the above work, this paper will provide countermeasures and suggestions for the optimized location of the Nanchang star-rated hotels so as to serve for urban construction authorities'decision making. This paper can be divided into seven chapters:The first chapter elaborates background of the selected topic and significance of the study, systematically summarize a thorough review of research both at home and abroad and generalize the content, methods and the frameworks of this paper. The second chapter defines relative concepts of hotel, star-rated hotel and the spatial distribution of star-rated hotels: then construct the theoretical basis of the spatial distribution of star-rated hotels, from the perspective of geography. The third chapter analyses the current situation of the spatial distribution of star-rated hotels, the macro-development background, in terms of the macro backgrounds of development, the temporal changes of the overall size, the hierarchical structure, the occupancy rate of the hotel and the average price of hotel room. The fourth chapter reveals the spatial distribution characteristics of star-rated hotels in Nanchang, from the"point-line-surface"three levels and using Yokeno's spatial distribution model of star-rated hotels .It also will discuss the impact factors of the spatial distribution .The fifth chapter, firstly ,it selects factors affecting the spatial distribution of star-rated hotels, combining the results of previous studies, the author's professional background as well as the availability of data. Secondly, it uses stepwise regression analysis and construct the location driving force model. The last, based on the results of regression analysis, path analysis further explores the impact factor in spatial distribution of star-rated hotels in Nanchang. After fully analyzing the spatial distribution characteristics and the impact factors of star-rated hotels, the sixth chapter gives the optimized countermeasures and suggestion for the distribution of star-rated hotels. The last chapter will include the main conclusions of this paper, innovation, and problems that need to be resolved further.
