| Leading industry occupies a very important position in regional economy,itcan stimulate the development of other industries and thus is the core of regionalindustrial structure and its evolution.Select and cultivate leading industry rightlyaccording to the regional actual situation can not only play regional comparativeadvantage,but also play a very crucial role in optimize the industrial structure of thearea and safeguard regional economic develops healthy〠fastly〠stably andharmoniously.At present, with the globalization of economy and the further development ofthe information technology revolution, the international and domestic industrialstructure appear significant adjustment, developed countries abroad makelarge-scale industrial transfer to developing countries, China’s coastal developedareas have also speed up economic transformation and speed up the industrialtransfer to the Midwest. Wanjiang city in Anhui province became the first nationaldemonstration area of undertaking industrial transfer due to its ownadvantages.How to select leading industries correctly and combine the leadingindustries with key industries based on meet the needs of undertaking industrialtransfer and rely on own advantages is a major issue need to be addressed by everycity in Wanjiang city in the background of industrial transfer.This paper first introduces the concept of the leading industry and relatedtheoretical foundation of the selection of leading industry, and sort out relevantbenchmarks and methods of leading industry at home and abroad.Then,taking intoaccount the current background of industrial transfer and the actual situation ofAnqing city,Then put forward five benchmarks in the selection of the leadingindustry in Anqing city,and construct relevant indexes to build a leading industryselection model of Anqing city based on these benchmarks, next step, using factoranalysis and evaluation method for the quantitative analysis of the industry. Inorder to make the analysis of results more scientific and reasonable,This papermakes a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis method to selectleading industry of Anqing city at this stage.Leading industry not only be needed to select, but also to cultivate anddevelop.
