Managers′competency has long been a focus for concern by many scholars, which iswidely applied in the human resource management, public human resource managementand so on. Managers′competency has been studied for long time since it had beenproposed, and many results about many professions have been made by the cipherscholars. But none of them is relation to medical devices.In order to fill up the blank of medical devices, this study tried to figure out thecompetency model of medical devices mid-level managers. The medical devicemanagements from Suzhou and Shanghai were chose as subjects. At first, MedicalDevice mid-level Management Competency Questionnaire was made according the dataof Behavioral Event Interviews and other relevant information. Second,457medicaldevices mid-level managers were investigated, and the competency model of medicaldevices mid-level managers is made by exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factoranalysis. At last, compare it with the theoretical model, the competency model of foreignmid-level managers, and the competency model of domestic mid-level managers. Mainconclusions of the study as follows:(1) The competency model for medical devices mid-level managers contains: humanresource management, integrity, crisis management, influence, informationmanagement, team cooperation, leadership, flexibility.(2) There is no difference on gender, age, work life about the total competency of medicaldevices mid-level managers, but significant differences on education. The score ofleadership has significant difference on age. The score of flexibility has significantdifference on work life and education. The score of crisis management, teamcooperation has significant difference on education.(3) The reliability and validity of the Survey Questionnaire for medical devices mid-levelmanagers are good.(4) Compared to the competency model of mid-level managers from home and abroad, crisis management and information management are the main differences whichmanifest the medical devices profession characteristic well.
