Competency model is an important tool of human resource management. The competency is a potential feature of the high performer. We often say that the competency model usually refers to the capability model. In an organization, the different position requests of employee with the different content and different level of the competency. In different organizations or industries for the same or similar position, the features of the competency of employees are not the same. Therefore, we call the sum of the competency of the specific position role the’Competency Model’.Enterprises need a high effective and high quality management team to bring forward the continuous development and growth. But along with the increased and intensified competitions in the market, the high turnover rate of the talents, the further development of enterprise is affected and constrained by many factors. Especially the turnover of the outstanding middle level managers or the deficiency of their capabilities, it constrains to promote the strategy of the business operation of M company.In this thesis, the writer focus on the establishment and application of the competency model of the middle-level managers in M company by the logical flow of question raising, question analysis and problem solving as well as referencing the related competency literature. The competency model is throughout from staff recruitment, new staff orientation training, performance management, compensation strategy design, career development and promotion planning all human resource management processes.Through the establishment of the competency model of the middle-level managers, M company can more effectively find out the capability gap and it also help the employee notice the gap between the current and the required capabilities to further develop their performance and finally realize a win-win situation for both parties.
