In the history of mankind,there has never been a technology revolution as theinternet revolution which has such a deep and unexpected influence on thedevelopment of the human society. Based on the internet revolution, a new kind ofeconomy form which we called network economy has become a worldwide trend. Itsdevelopment greatly reduces the cost of the economic and social activities, speeds thetransference and exchange of the information as while as greatly improves the socialproductivity.Meanwhile, for many countries of the world, it also brings revolutionaryinfluence on the adjustment of economic structure, the mode of the enterpriseorganization, the way of commercial operation and form of social activities.This paper, on the basis of the study of network economy development of theUnited States, proposes some strategies and recommendations to accelerate theeconomic development of China’s network and the strategic choice which is suitablefor china, aiming to make the network economy truly become an opportunity forChina to catch up developed countriesThe first chapter, after giving some basic analyses on the connotation,composition and characteristics of the network economy, defines the connotation ofthe network as follow: with universal application of the internet technology inpeople’s social life, a platform based on internet is build which makes the informationtransmission and process faster and more convenient. As a result of that, more andmore social economic activities are developed on that platform and both the way ofpeople’s behavior, the companies’business models and social production mode arechanged. This new economy form formed on the basis of internet development iscalled as network economy. Network economy is divided into four components:network basic infrastructure, network basic applications, network intermediaryservices and network business. Compared with traditional economy, the network hassignificantly different characteristics including directness, quickness, permeability, sustainability and the externality. It alsoconforms to the Moore’s Law, Metcalfe’slaw,Matthew Effect, Gilder’s Law and the basic law of increasing marginal utility.Along with the rapid development of the network economy, network economy will bethe mainstream of economic development in the future.Taking American network economy as an example, the second chapter does theresearch from its present situation and characteristics and comes up with theconclusion that the network economy of America has taken the global leadership withhigher Commercialization and great society influence.The third chapter discusses the reasons of the fast development of Americannetwork economy from several aspects: first of all, America has advanced networkinfrastructure and technology; secondly, the government of the Unites States attachesgreat importance to the development of network economy, considering it as a nationalstrategy, and adopting a series of policies to support its development. Thirdly, itshighly developed educational level and the adequacy of the high-tech talents bringgood innovation environment.The forth chapter studies the influence and the challenge of American networkeconomy.The development of the network economy in the United States has had asignificant and far-reaching impact on the U.S. economy and the world’s networkeconomy. It also points out some problems and challenges which America needs toface, such as traditional enterprise’s response, the tax issues, the network security andsocial issues.The final chapter analyzes China ’s present situation and the existing problems ofthe development of network economy. With a comprehensive understanding ofchina’s current situation, this chapter also gives out five strategic measures to promoteour country’s network economy. As while as the network economy develops to acertain stage, with adopting suitable strategies, it is feasible for china to catch up andsurpass the developed countries such as the Unite States of American.
