Research On The Present Development Of Digital Economy In Latin America

With the advancement of science and technology,the world is undergoing rapid digital transformation.New technologies and new business models are constantly emerging.Digital technology and traditional industries are infiltrating.The world is moving towards the digital era.In recent years,the overall scale of the world's digital economy has continued to grow,and the proportion of the digital economy has continued to increase.But the development between regions is uneven,and the problem of digital divide has become prominent.The level of development of the digital economy is highly correlated with the overall economic development.The developed economies have entered a higher digital state and the world's major high-tech companies are also highly concentrated in these countries.Meanwhile the majority of developing countries are still focusing on improving network coverage and digital penetration.The weak digital infrastructure is restricting the development of the digital economy in these countries.Starting with defining the connotation of the digital economy,this paper attempts to find out the current development of the digital economy in Latin America and the digital strategies there,through the comparison of multi-dimensional indicators.Also the advantages in digital economy of China as a developing country will be analyzed to explore the matching points of Sino-Latin America cooperation in the new digital era.This paper finds that the digital economy in Latin America and the Caribbean is underdeveloped,and the development in the region is uneven.The digital infrastructure is weak,the digital ecology is still in the initial stage of development,and there is a shortage of funds and digital talents.The large digital economies in the region are strong in the scale but still have large gaps from the world's leading level in specific subdivisions.However,Latin America has a digital demographic dividend and huge development potential.And under the dual reality of insufficient growth momentum and fierce international digital competition,Latin America has the demand for the digital economy to promote structural adjustment for growth and to accelerate the pace of the development of digital economy.The urgent demand for digital economy has been focus of regional policies.China has become a leader of the digital economy.Combining the advantages and characteristics of China's digital economy and the current stage of development of the digital economy in Latin America,this paper suggests that China and Latin America should continue to expand and deepen cooperation in the digital economy in areas such as digital infrastructure,e-commerce,fin-tech,content consumption,business model innovation,industrial cooperation etc.They should also continue to cooperate in infrastructure and finance,increase exchanges of talents and strengthen policy coordination to provide strong support for the development of the digital economy.
