Research On The Leading Industry Selection Of The Sub-economic Center

Leading industries are the engines driving the regional economy, and they play a very important role not only in the regional industrial development but also in industrial structure optimization and upgrading. The correct selection and development of of regional leading industry is the key to the realization of regional industry structure rationalization, which affects the overall orientation, speed and the quality of the whole regional’s economic development. How to scientifically select and fastly develop regional leading industries is of significance to help the less-developed regions to demonstrate comparative advantage, optimize industrial structure, realize quick development, and to narrow the gap between them and developed regions.Cheng-Yu economic zone, regarded as the fifth growth pole of China’s development by many experts, is an economic region including two big-scale cities, Chengdu and Chongqing. Its development has great influence on overall development of the economy in the west. However it is located in the southwest of China, the inland areas, and the traffic system is still underdeveloped, and differentiation in regional economic development level is serious, city competitiveness is of great disparity, making the whole region as a dumbbell shape. Because the competitiveness of Chengdu and Chongqing is much higher than other cities in this region, there is lack of sub-economic center with a reasonable gradient city scale.With the development of Cheng-Yu economic zone, the sub-economic centers have also gained remarkable achievement and the economic structure has changed greatly. However, there are still some problems in the current industrial structure of sub-economic centers, such as simple industrial structure, weak industrial connection and there is lack of high-tech industry and the leading industry with strong strength to drive other industries, which blocks the whole development. Optimization and upgrading industrial structure, finding the new economic development impetus is imperative. Therefore, choosing suitable leading industries has a very important practical significance to sub-economic center of Cheng-Yu economic zone.Having referred to relevant domestic and foreign theoretical achievement amply, this dissertation provides a preliminary theoretical analytical framework for selection of regional leading industry. In accordance with the basic principles and standards of selecting regional leading industry, this framework consists of an index system of sub-economic center regional leading industry. In the choice of benchmark system architecture, combined with subprime economic center’s economic development and industrial structure situation and other actual situation, selection of demand elasticity coefficient, value-added income ratio, market share, labor productivity and the location of business, Industry proportion, Compare laboring coefficient, compate profit tax coefficient, employment absorbing rate nine index as the standard to measure leading industry Comprehensive strength of Neijiang.With this framework and according to the data collected, this dissertation analyzes the selection of leading industry of Neijiang city empirically, the factor analysis method of principal analysis is adopted, making the influence factors of leading industry more clear and the research more valuable. Then the order arrangement of selection is given. Composite scores obtained in the top five industries, it is respectively:black metal smelting and rolling processing industry, nonmetallic mineral products industry, handicrafts and other manufacturing industries, agricultural food processing industry, leather, fur, and feathers (fine hair) and its products industry.Based on the internal and external environment of every industrial development, and through the qualitative analysis, we get the leading industries of the sub-economic center of the Cheng-Yu economic Zone, they are Metallurgy, building materials industry, food processing industry. In the end, this thesis gives a detailed suggestions on the development of the leading industries, according to current industrial structure and economy of Neijiang city.
