OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is very suitable for HF communication due to its high data rate transmission capability, high bandwidth efficiency and its robustness to multi-path delay. Therefore, this paper studies a wideband HF communication system based on OFDM technique and designes its hardware platform on the basis of the principle of software radio, which using DSP and FPGA as the main control and operation part.According to the requirements of the system, all the modules and interfaces on the platform are constructed, including the Power, the Clock, the Reset, the Audio, the radio interface and the computer interface, with emphasis on the interfaces between DUC (Digital Up Converter) and DSP, DDC (Digital Down Converter) and FPGA. Besides, the scheme of controlling the DUC by DSP and controlling the DDC by FPGA is put forward and designed, which shortens the debuge time greatly.This paper studies the principle of RS code. The encoding algorithm of RS code in the system is implemented on the hardware platform of TMS320C6713 DSP supplied by SEED-DEC6713.
