HF communication plays an irreplaceable role in military communications, emergency rescue and disaster relief, international communication and so on, but the analog HF radio has been difficult to satisfy the higher demand. However the development of software radio thought and LSI (large scale integrated circuit) provides a new solution and the possibility of realization for HF communication. On the basis of these, a new generation of the wideband HF digital processing platform is designed.The development of the HF communication and the software radio are introduced in this thesis, and the theoretical basis of software radio and the application of the software radio in HF communication solution are expounded. Then the wideband HF digital processing platform based on the software radio thought is designed, with DSP and FPGA as the core and other functional modules as the peripherals. The hardware debugging process and the realization of the system were introduced next, and this platform satisfies the requirement of the system. Finally basing on the hardware debugging process we put forward the improvement scheme and the upgrading scheme for the hardware platform, and according to the upgrading scheme a new system hardware platform is designed.
