This thesis is designed for researches on the characteristics of the discourse of the civic journalism and the focus is the rhetorical methods, ideology of discourse and the relationship between them. In the part of prologue, principles of gathering samples and carring out the reasearches are displayed. The author made a conclusion and comment on the researches both home and abroad in the fields of discourse and civic journalism in chapter one of this paper. In chapter two, the atmosphere of copetition of local newspapers is described as background of living environment of the Evening Paper of the Spring City. In chapter three and four, texts of repotages which can be classified as civic repoting are drawed as samples from this news paper are analyzed. And related results are produced not only by datas conducted by ananlysis of the text of the texts, but also the internship experiences, fieldwork and interviews conducted by the author. In the narratology field, the auhor found the structure of telling stories and describing events can be classfied in certain paradigms;for rhetorical characters, the author learnt that the items used are comparatively narrative, attractive and on common citizen’s view; in the discussion of ideology which takes effect behind the context, the author pointed out that journalist hold the beliefs of news values such as "telling the truths","no comments" as well as the notion of serving the people, humanlism, caring for people’s livehood and so on when writing news. Meanwhile commercial goals, such as getting more audiences and bigger circulations are also their targets. While the news they reported are constructed in the theory of constructivism, they coustruct people’s imagination, knowledge in a invisible way.
