News Discourse And Power Relations Of In-depth Environmental Report In China

Mirroring the society,environmental news text is the vehicle for symbolic exchange,and the battlefield of environmental discourse.Based on the theory of media discourse analysis,a research was conducted on the in-depth environmental reports from Caixin Weekly(2016-2018)to analyze the relationship among news schema,rhetoric strategies,the characteristics of environmental discourse and the generative power of media discourse.It is shown that Caixin Weekly achieved self-empowerment in the name of "social justice" and " media supervision".By shaping "common space " and building "social drama" model,Caixin Weekly established a democratic pragmatism system of environmental discourse.In terms of environmental discourse,it remains as a main characteristic of the country's green public sphere that dominant rationalism in administration interacts and competes with democratic pragmatism – represented by Caixin Weekly.It lacks institutional framework and social consensus to support the discussion on replacing "industrial society" with "ecological society" in China.
