“Ren Zhongping” is a signed commentary of the “People’s Daily”. It is taken fromcomments homonym of the Peoole’s Daily. It is launched as the key political article bythe People’s Daily News Agency.“Ren Zhongping” is famous for its longer length ofspace, important political topics, and novel writing style of political commentary. Thispaper takes78articles of “Ren Zhongping” in about19years from1993to2012as theobject, from the perspective of political communication. Integrated text analysis andcomparative analysis are used to conduct research on the background, functions andfeatures of political communication.The Party Newspaper occupies a dominant position in China’s media environment.Besides the properties of the mass media, it is also an important governing resources.“Ren Zhongping” takes the “People’s Daily” as the carrier, closely linking to the majorissues and commenting on the politic and economic nowadays. It has many functionssuch as, guiding the social opinion, constructing audience cognition, enhancing thepolitical education, strengthening the political identity etc.“Ren Zhongping” is differentfrom other commentators in the topic selection and writing features. Compared to othersections such as “Today’s Talk” and “The People’s Commentary”, most issues of “RenZhongping” are finished after sufficient investigation. It weakens the timeliness in thisaspect, but on the other hand, it strengthens the theoretical and authoritative of thearticles. To compare with other signed articles,“Ren Zhongping” selects a wider range ofissues. It involves political, economic, cultural, major events, etc. Compareing with theeditorial articles of “People’s Daily”, it also differs from commentary writing.
