Wireless sensor network (WSN), which integrates the computer technology,communication technology and sensor technology, has been widely used in the field ofenvironmental monitoring and military defense.It is currently a hot-spot issue inembedded system field.The design of WSN involves the theoretical systems of RF circuitdesign, low-level driver package and programming framework, etc. The existingtechnical thresholds inhibited the widespread application and popularity of WSN.If wecan encapsulate heterogeneous software system into the middleware for a large numberof heterogeneous hardware platforms, the differences in the hardware platform could beshielded. At the same time, it also could be convenient for developers to use and lowerthe technical thresholds of WSN.Entrusted by Freescale Company, the author, on the basis of several year’sexperiences and effectual practices in the laboratory, has conducted a basic research inview of the microcontroller chip MC12311which was the latest launch of the FreescaleCompany in2012and designed to be used in the field of WSN. Based on themicrocontroller chip MC12311, the paper designs a wireless node named SD-WSNZN.According to the hardware component designed principles of embedded system, theauthor did lots of hardware designs including the minimum system circuit, RF circuit,power supply circuit and interface circuit. At the same time, the author encapsulates theunderlying module drivers based on the embedded software component. Through to thestudy and reference of the WSN middleware system, the paper tries to put forward theWSN middleware SDWML software system. Extracting and abstracting WSN logicfunction of each layer, the middleware is divided into three layer architecture: physicallayer, MAC layer and network layer. With clearly functional interface gived, thefunctions of three layer architecture are implemented step by step. The paper guaranteesapplication layer independent of Middle layer. Meanwhile, the graphical application layerhas been applied in a creative way, which unifies the application programming framework. By means of configuring graphical parameter and operating graphicalelements even unskilled developer could make it, which simplify the developing of theWSN application. The basic research of microcontroller chip MC12311providessubstantial reference value for its market application and popularization.In order to verify the validity and the rationality of this research, the paper designedan application about enterprise workshop wireless data acquisition system, and thewireless node SD-WSNZN was applied to this system. The tested WSN middlewareSDWML system have approved by freescale. In addition, this system has confirmed thecorrectness and stability of the wireless node SD_WSNZN and the WSN MiddlewareSDWML.
