Along with the wide application of Ethernet in many fields, a lot of whilom isolated equipments and systems have been joining up with it, which makes it possible that more and more information and resources can be shared. A remote data acquisition system based on the Embedded Ethernet technology supplies the shares with a physical mean.Aimed at the actual requirements of the remote monitoring system of farmland information, especially for no GPRS or weak GPRS areas, this paper designs a farmland information remote monitoring system based on embedded Ethernet. The system involves a large number of sensor nodes distributed randomly in the fields, a base station for receiving the farmland information, and the remote PC monitoring platform. This system forms a planar mesh topology with an ad-hoc network agreement. The function of sensor nodes are separated, one part is responsible for data acquisition, such as soil moisture, soil temperature, air temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure and light intensity, wind speed, wind direction, CO2concentration, rainfall, evaporation and so on. And this paper mainly introduces the collection of air temperature and humidity and soil temperature. The other part is responsible for the wireless sensor network routing, eventually to transmit data to the base station. Thus it can greatly improve the reliability of the system and extend the data wireless transmission distance. A microcontroller in base station connected to a Ethernet control module compose a simple and lightweight single-board computer. The single-board computer can be connected to Internet by fiber-optic network, which can replace the traditional computer equipment, make the hardware system to be simplified, and also has easy handling, low power consumption, convenient system maintenance, preventing theft, etc. To apply the system to the farmland management system can monitor the farmland information in the office which is far away from the field, no need the staff to watch over the filed all the time, so it is more suitable than the locale computer.Each sensor node is composed of sensor module, MCU (Micro Control Unit), wireless transceiver module, serial communication module, power module and I/O module and so on, which is responsible for data collection and wireless transmission.The base station is composed of wireless transceiver module, MCU, Ethernet control module, serial communication module, power module, I/O module and so on, which is responsible for receiving and Ethernet data transmission. In the base station, MCU drive the Ethernet controller to run the TCP transport protocol to transmit the data to the remote server by Internet.The hardware design includes the central processing module, power module, Ethernet control module, sensor module and wireless transceiver module. The software design of the system mainly includes the embedded Ethernet system software design, SHT11temperature and humidity sensor software design, and the wireless sensor networks software design.Through the analysis of the system hardware and software part, the paper implements the application of the embedded Ethernet system in the farmland information remote monitoring system, and the transmission of data from wireless to wired.
