With the rapid development of the mobile communication network and Internet, and with the rapid growth of Internet application, complexity and heterogeneity are the more and more obvious features of the network. Many network management programs need to get the informations of network performance parameters, such as delay, bandwidth and throughput; according to these informations, they can adjust the sending situations of the data flow in order to support the differentiated services. Network measurement is the direct effective measure to get these informations. Using specific measuring means and tools, according to the specified methods, network measurement can get the informations of related parameters of network and data flow, and can obtain network performance and operation status.In this paper, the existing network measurement technology and mobile communication networks are introduced. Then, according to the demand of network measurement for the mobile communication network, we present a new measurement method. This measurement method is an end-to-end flow-based performance measurement method, which is achieved by generating synthetic measurement packets, injecting them to the network and analyzing the statistics carried in the measurement packets. The key issue is that what this program measures is the performance of data stream. The measuring packet carries the business flow statistics, and the transmitter frequency and size of the package is very small, so it is almost no effect on existing business. This measurement method can measure flow characteristics such as delay, ipdv (IP Packet Delay Variation) and packet loss. The article describes the measurement program in detail, and introduces the effective processing method for exceptions that generate probably, and compared with prior art. In order to validate the practicality of measurement method, we implement this measurement solution in the simulation software EXata, and given the analysis. Finally, compared to the current measurement technology, it summarizes the full text, and puts forward the direction of future research.
