Along with the continuous increasing of data service, the traditional mobile backhaul network which is based on TDM faces a lot of challenge, because it is difficult to adapt to the rapid growth of bandwidth demand. So the mobile backhaul network based on packet is come up. Comparing PTN technology with IP RAN technology from the network expansion, network evolution to operation and maintenance of the network, this paper obtains the conclusion that IP RAN is the best choice for future packet-based mobile backhaul network. In order to reduce the operating costs and complexities of maintenance in mobile backhaul networks. We adopt layer3routing technology to realize self-organizing networks. But the current layer3routing protocols, such as Open Shortest Path First protocol (OSPF), which adopt Dijkstra algorithm are based on the thought of local optimization. Because of this, Dijkstra algorithm does not make full use of the global resources of the network. What’s more, LTE brings in new features and Dijkstra algorithm can’t meet the demands of the balancing load of MME pool.An improved backhaul routing algorithm based on genetic algorithm is proposed. The algorithm improves genetic algorithm population initialization procedure, and at the same time proposes a new fitness calculation function. OPNET and Matlab simulation show that:in the same network environment, the new algorithm comparing with the Dijkstra algorithm, achieves better network traffic balancing and the MME server load balancing, while providing a reliable QoS guarantees.
